Warm Air Heating
Warm Air Principle
The principle of heating by warm air circulation is as 'old as the hills' and is undoubtedly one of the most effective methods of heating. This method incorporates a system of ductwork designed to deliver warmed air to all parts of the home from a 'Warm Air Unit' located conveniently somewhere within the property.
Although the most common means of firing is by gas, there are also warm air units available which may be fired by oil or electricity.

Warm Air System
Warm air installations typically have a longer service life and fewer breakdowns than water-based systems. There are many householders who are advocates of this method of central heating.
The warm air units incorporate a fan which is used to deliver the warmed air into the various rooms through either ceiling, wall or floor grilles at a speed which does not cause discomfort. The problem of 'draught' is one which has long been associated with warm air systems, but this has been addressed by manufacturers.
On current models, instead of the basic on/off control on old warm air heating systems, they are electronically controlled modulating the fan speed and temperature. This makes the action of the unit much more subtle and provides comfort throughout the room. An optional air cleaner can be fitted to provide air cleaning that takes out particles such as pollen and tobacco smoke. A correctly balanced system should not produce draughts and should not kick up the dust. These improvements offer you the homeowner significant comfort and economic benefits when upgrading.
New and Replacement Units
A heater unit can be replaced with its modern equivalent that in most cases will fit back into the same position as your current unit and would incorporate the advanced new features. This would all be completed with minimal disruption to your property.
A gas water heater can be contained within the casing of most warm air units; this will work in conjunction with a hot water storage cylinder. Like other gas central heating, an immersion heater can be fitted for backup.

Repairs, Spares and Servicing
Spares for many of the old systems are still available. Blue Flame Heating Solutions are fully trained and CORGI registered to carry out Installations, Servicing, Repairs and Replacement of all types of Domestic Warm Air Units.
A big advantage of warm air over most other forms of heating is the rapid response which can be achieved from cold, together with the aspect of controlled ventilation and 'heat recovery'.
A 'controlled ventilation and heat recovery' system also deals effectively with lingering cooking odours and stale unhealthy atmospheres caused by poor ventilation as well as helping to prevent condensation. Such a system can be most effective in reclaiming heat energy from domestic air, normally wasted to the outside environment, which saves on fuel bills.
